Pakistan’s “National Daily” reported on April 21 that according to the latest statistics from the Pakistan Statistics Bureau, the first nine months of the fiscal year (July 2015-March 2016), Pakistan’s largest exporter of textiles exported 9.4 billion U.S. dollars. Declined by 11.6%. Except for towel and garment exports, which rose by 0.21% and 4.2% respectively, exports of other textile products fell across the board. Among them, raw cotton exports fell sharply by 46.79% to 75.3 million bales, cotton yarn exports fell by 32.45% to US$990 million, cotton fabrics fell by 10.14% to US$1.7 billion, bedding fell by 6.25% to US$1.5 billion, and knitwear exports fell by 5.5. % to $1.7 billion.

Officials from the Ministry of Commerce attributed the decline in textile exports mainly to the decline in cotton production and the slowdown in China's economic growth. It said that due to extreme weather, frequent pests and diseases, and the negative impact of price declines, this cotton may have a target of 15.49 million bales. The yield is 35% lower. Mainly affected by the decline in textile exports, the total export of Pakistan in the first three quarters of this fiscal year was 15.6 billion US dollars, down 12.92% year-on-year.

In terms of imports, the import value of Pakistan in the first three quarters of this fiscal year was 32.5 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 4.22%. The main reason is that crude oil and food prices have fallen in the international market. Among them, only oil imports fell by 37.24% to 5.58 billion US dollars, a decrease of 3.3 billion US dollars over the same period last year.
